Bitter Chocolate

The Ivory Coast, with 36% of global exports, is the world’s biggest producer of cacao. Cacao is used to make chocolate and huge sums of money are involved. This money is often used to fuel wars and corruption. It is thought tens of thousands of children work in the cacao industry. The work they do is heavy and dangerous. Most of the children hardly ever see the inside of a classroom anymore. In some cases the children are even forced to work in the cacao fields without pay. Modern day child slavery.
